TORX 2026: Chasing the Tot Dret Record in the Shadow of Gressoney

Twelve thousand meters of vertical gain packed into just 130 kilometers isn't just a stat; it's a declaration of war against any mortal's quads.

The Tot Dret and the obsession with the clock

While the media spotlight often drifts toward the gargantuan TOR330, trail running purists have their eyes fixed on Gressoney-Saint-Jean this September 15th. The TOR130 - Tot Dret has established itself as the wildest and most technical race in the entire Aosta Valley. This year, the chatter in the mountain huts suggests a serious assault on the course record. With relentless technical terrain and single track sections where overtaking is a pipe dream, pacing through the first six thousand meters will be critical to avoid bonking before the lights of Courmayeur come into view.

Cervinia and the baptism of fire at 100 kilometers

The big news shaking up the technical forums is the consolidation of the TOR100 - Cervino Monte Bianco. Starting from Breuil-Cervinia on Wednesday the 16th, this event has become the silver bridge for those seeking the Tor's mystique without the extreme sleep deprivation of the flagship distance. With 8,000 meters of climbing, this is no entry-level race; it's a textbook leg-breaker along the Alta Via 1. Runners will face high-alpine terrain where the weather can shift from a scorching sun to a blizzard in the time it takes to pull a windshell out of your pack.

The Malatrà trap

To close the week on September 19th, the TOR30 - Passage au Malatrà will test the explosive power of short-distance specialists. The climb to the Col de Malatrà, sitting at nearly 3,000 meters, acts as a psychological funnel. There is no room for tactics here: it's an agonizing ascent followed by a breakneck descent toward the finish line. Anyone who hasn't mastered technical descending on loose scree will lose in ten minutes what they gained in two hours of climbing. Residual snow at high altitudes and forecasts of northern gusts suggest that mandatory gear will be, more than ever, the best ally to avoid severe hypothermia on the exposed ridges.
